The inviting student lounges at ILSC-Brisbane provide access to filtered water (hot and cold), vending machines with a variety of snacks and small meals, fridges and microwaves, satellite TV, a DVD player, a ping pong table and video game systems. The campus also has several bulletin boards providing information about travel, housing, employment, upcoming local events, etc.


- Library

ILSC-Brisbane has borrowing library and a listening laboratory available for all students. Practice your English speaking skills with DVDs, conversation tapes, and audio books on tape. The libraries are available during regular school hours.

Communication Courses (3h)
English Communication (Level B1~A2)

In the lower levels, you will learn to use the right words and phrases for everyday life. In the intermediate levels you will improve English speaking and listening skills through small group activities and lively classroom discussion. You will learn to express ideas in diverse social situations and build vocabulary in a wide range of subjects. At the upper levels, you will progress through Speaking Dynamics, refining expressive language skills, debate and use of persuasive language. You will work on becoming proficient in English by participating in Discussion Circles that aim to build native-like fluency using sophisticated vocabulary in dynamic discussions on topics such as art, sports, psychology, food, science and technology.


Speaking Dynamics (Level I2)

Refine your expressive language skills by discussing current events. Advance communicatively through scripting and performing, debating, and use of persuasive language.


Speaking Excellence (Level A1)

Develop strategies for critical thought by delving into controversial issues. Improve use of complex language structure such as irony, problem solving and debate.

Academic & Test Prep Courses (3h)
Academic Preparation (Levels : B1~A2)

Designed to help students pursue further academic studies in English or French, this course strengthens reading and writing skills, improves grammar usage and builds vocabulary by exploring academic topics.


Cambridge CAE (Certificate of Advanced English)(Levels : A1)

This course helps prepare for the CAE advanced level exam, recognized for professional and academic qualifications.


Cambridge FCE (First Certificate in English)(Levels : I1~I4)

This course helps prepare for the FCE upper intermediate level exam, recognized for professional and academic qualifications.


Cambridge PET (Preliminary English Test)(Levels : I1)

This course helps prepare for the PET preliminary English test, recognized for professional and academic qualifications. PET also provides an excellent pathway to higher qualifications.


IELTS Mastery (Levels : B3~A2)

The purpose of the IELTS mastery course is to prepare students for the IELTS exam. It covers all four test modules : Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. This course gives students the opportunity to specifically target each macro-skill, as well as develop grammar, academic vocabulary and writing skills in order to obtain their target IELTS band score. Due to the intensive nature of the course, students will also improve their overall communicative competence and test-taking skills.


TOEIC® Preparation (Levels : B3~A2)

This test measures the ability to understand English in the global environment, particularly for a successful future in the business world.

This course is designed to introduce the key concepts and vocabulary of business management and human resource practices. Practise the concepts and related language by working through case studies and activities. Experience and learn how to identify and appraise future trends.


English for JOBS- Job Opportunities and Business Success (I3~A3)

Gain a clear perspective of workplace culture including employment standards, human resources and management issues in your city/country of study. Students examine their own professional attributes as they relate to the employment marketplace and learn strategies for working on a team, networking and preparing for workplace success.

Gain entrance into one of ILSC's reputable college or university partners and prepare for academic success once there. Lecture comprehension, note-taking, research skills, academic discussion skills and writing a post-secondary level essay are the focus of this certificate.

TESOL for Young Learners
The TESL for Young Learners elective focuses primarily on teaching techniques and practical classroom methods. It is designed to provide initial training in teaching English to young learners in the age range of 2~16 years old. It is intended for students with little or no previous experience of teaching English who wish to learn the skills and techniques necessary for teaching young learners. To build practical teaching techniques, the TESL for Young Learners is structured to offer as many opportunities for student-teaching as possible.

TESOL for Young Learners

After completing the TESL for Young Learners program, and improving English skills through ILSC_Australia's core courses, skills electives and programs, students can move to ILSC TESOL College and take the Certificate IV in TESOL and the Cambridge TKT Program. Students who complete the Certificate IV TESOL, can also transfer to Charlton Brown and complete a Child Care Certificate

Certificate IV TESOL is designed to give students practical skills to teach ESL in Australia or internationally. Certificate IV students will learn the latest teaching strategies and methodology used to engage ESL learners to develop English proficiency. Students will develop teaching competence and confidence and will leave equipped with practical skills for teaching English speaking, listening, reading and writing.


The program includes practical experience gained through a minimum of 14 hours of classroom observation, and 6 hours of unassisted lesson delivery in a classroom setting.


No previous teaching experience or qualifications are required to take the certificate IV TESOL. However, employment opportunities for course graduates may depend on the participants' pre-existing qualifications and experience. Students wanting to obtain an internationally recognized TESOL certification may wish to take the 3-week Cambridge TKT teaching knowledge test program upon completion of the certificate IV.

Program Description

The Cambridge TKT (TESOL) program will help students develop the communicative competence and English language skills required to be successful English language teachers. Students learn how to plan and execute effective English language lessons, and will become familiar with the theories and practices underpinning successful ESL teaching. Upon completion of the course, students will be prepared to take the Cambridge TKT exam, which offers an internationally recognized ESL teaching certification.


Student's English language skills and communicative competence are developed in parallel to their teaching knowledge and practical teaching skills.

Job Ready Program (JRP)

Australia's Job Ready Program (JRP) is a specialized program designed to give students the basic language and job-search skills to find a position in an Australian workplace. JRP students must study a minimum of 4 weeks. JRP is ideal for Working Holiday students who want to quickly increase their language skills for the workplace, and learn the necessary tips and tricks to help them to secure work in Australia. However, student visa students may also choose the JRP program to help them find part-time work during their studies.

[IELTS Mastery]


IELTS Is One of The Keys to Open Doorways to University, Migration and Employment.


Available in Full-Time Schedule

Students may opt to take IELTS Mastery in the Full-time Intensive schedule to strengthen key areas through additional Academic Skills Electives.
The purpose of the IELTS Mastery is to prepare students for the Academic version of the IELTS(International English Language Testing System) exam. It covers all four test modules; Listening, Academic Reading, Academic Writing, and Speaking. This course gives students the opportunity to specifically target each macro-skill, as well as develop grammar, academic vocabulary and writing skills in order to obtain their target IELTS band score and move on to their academic goals either through direct entry into university or through ILSC's University Pathway Program.


IELTS Mastery Levels

The IELTS Mastery is offered at 5 levels each designed to help student target and achieve a specific IELTS level. All students (including current ILSC students) will be required to take a test to determine their current IELTS level in order to be placed in the appropriate level. Each IELTS level is offered over up to 3 course sessions (12 weeks); students will advance to the next IELTS level after 1,2 or 3 sessions depending on their ability. For Students using IELTS Mastery as a pathway program in Australia, 12 weeks must usually be completed in a required target level (i.e. 3 sessions).
